Las Vegas Casinos ready to re-open!

Posted on

After two months of forced closure of the Las Vegas casinos, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Seventy-eight days after casinos first closed down, they are allowed to reopen on June 4th. When MGM re-opens, they will bring back a long lost tourist favourite.

What this will mean for the availability of rewards, is unknown as of now. But expect more rewards to become available in the near future. Also, make sure you check out the availability calendars before you want to schedule a trip to the Strip.

Blast from the past: MGM free parking

The re-opening of the casinos also brings back a blast from the past for some MGM properties: free parking. During the last few years, more and more strip properties started charging tourists to keep their cars in their parking-garages. In 2019, Wynn Resorts was the first to revert back to the free self parking. MGM will lift those parking fees for two of their properties: New York-New York Hotel & Casino on the south end of the Strip, well-known for their prominent roller coaster. And the luxury strip resort Bellagio, home of the famous fontain show. If and when more MGM properties will join this swing in parking strategy is currently unknown. But as is often the case in Vegas: when one property goes one way, the other will soon follow.
